Slow loading Google News on Android
Opening news.google.com:
Takes about 2 seconds in Chrome.
Takes 7-9 seconds in Firefox.
I do this a great deal, so the difference matters.
Is there any way to make Firefox faster?

Hi John
Understandably, Google probably optimises its pages for its own browser, but I think there is something that should help.
From the Android home screen, open the Settings application (typically a cogwheel icon). Open Applications and find Firefox. In the Storage menu, clear the cache (do not clear data!).
When you next restart your device, Firefox should be a bit quicker.
I hope this helps.
Thank you, but that doesn't help, and wouldn't really solve the problem in any event, since it's not practical to clear the cache each time.
The difference is quite large, so it doesn't appear to be just a matter of optimization.
Firefox Focus is equally slow on news.google.com.
Brave, Opera, Opera Mini are all comparable in speed to Chrome, albeit based on Chromium.
I had really hoped to switch back to Firefox, which was my desktop browser of choice before Chrome, but this is a showstopper.
Hi John
You may also want to try Firefox Preview (available from the Google Play Store). Quite a few people have noticed that although it is still in development, it is a much faster browser.

Yes, thank you, it is indeed much faster, much closer to Chrome when loading Google News than Firefox Android. But there are issues, like the bottom Address Bar that always takes up screen space. I'll do more testing, and keep an eye on it. Thanks again.
