I am using FF 5.0.1. The English spellchecker add on does not work.It will underline the misspelled word but does not give you the correct spelling choice.
I did not upgrade to 4.0 because I did not like it.I thought I was upgrading finally to 4.0 assuming at this date they had fixed all the bugs and updated the add ons.
I downloaded the latest version and love it, love it except the one add on that I use more than anything does not work properly.:-(

Right-click on the under-lined word for a list of suggestions; you can also add your personalized words/spellings. See Using the spell checker and Spell checking

I already do that. Right click does nothing for me. It is the same add on I used with FF 3.6 and it worked fine. I went to the developers site and it is the latest version. The add on has no options it is either abled or disabled. It does show that the word is misspelled but no options of correct spelling.
My answer was for the Firefox built-in spell checking. You can add a dictionary and have Firefox check your spelling. Did you read the links that I included previously?
What is the name (and version) of the add-on that you are referring to?
From where did you download it if not from addons.mozilla.org?
What is the address for the developer's site?
Modified
I have done all of that.I have been using FF since 2.0 and I have had 4.0 which I didn't like and reverted back to 3.6.6 or something.
The version of FF I am using is the one you download from their site and the add on is the English dictionary add on the same one I have used previously and it worked.
It highlights the misspelled word but right clicking does not give me a word option other than "paste".
Even the "cut" or "copy" options are grayed out.
This is the one that used to work fine.

You must right-click on the underlined word.
Yes cut and copy are grayed-out on that right-click (context) menu.
The suggested replacement words are at the top of that right-click (context) menu in bold letters.

Modified
- You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.
- Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
- Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.
You can enable or disable spell checking globally:
- Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"
"SafeBrowser,
No it does NOT show up as I said before the ONLY option is "paste" there are NO suggestions showing up.
As I said before,I have used this same add on for many years and earlier versions and have had no problems until version FF5.01.
cor-el,
I have already done all that prior to posting here.
Even as I type this response the spell check add on puts a red squigly line under your screen names but does not give me any suggestions.
I am frustrated beyond belief because I am a faithful and dedicated user of this browser and I am going to just roll back to a older version until this silly issue is resolved.
I appreciate all your help but I suppose until the person who developed this add on does something to make it compatible with FF5.01 I will not be using it.
I apologize for any misspelled words but my spell check extension is not working properly. :-(

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
