I am attempting to create a Firefox account for the explicit purpose of synching across all devices. During the "create account" phase, I add my email, add a password, click on create and the page hangs on 'working'. I cannot get passed this part. It is NOT my internet connection, as we have Verizon's gigabyte per second service, and I can go to any page/stream/download anything. I have also disabled all pop-up blockers, add-ons et al, to no avail. Can someone please help? Thank you in advance.

The System Details list next to the question shows that you run an older Firefox version that is no longer supported with security updates. Always update Firefox and Add-ons to the latest versions to get all security fixes. Please update to the current Firefox 54.0 release.

Also please update the Shockwave Flash plugin to the 26.0.0.131 version.

Make sure you allow cookies for the accounts.firefox.com domain if you aren't allowing cookies generally or use extensions that deal with cookies.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Hi cor-el, thank you for the reply. The computer in question is a somewhat older system (I built it back in 2012) our daughter uses (mostly for schoolwork) and it did not occur to me that her FF was that out-of-date. I followed your advice and not only updated FF, but flash and a few other of the add-ons I had installed for her. Voila! Issue resolved. Thank you again for the help.
