I've had this happen the past few versions of firefox. its on any site that has videos. I've turned off hardware acceleration on both firefox and adobe flash. I always keep flash up to date. EDIT: I have also turned off protected mode on flash plugin It seems to make my whole computer suddenly freeze and make a loud eerie grinding noise if the volume was on and it will stay like that for 15 seconds. if i have task manager open, it shows that firefox is not responding.

I've had no issues with this on Chrome and IE (though ). Firefox is my preferred browser but this issue has been going on for months!

firefox 47.0 Windows 8.1

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

So far disabling protected mode in the Flash plugin worked! thank you! I never saw this solution on the numerous forums on this problem.

EDIT: it still happens just not as soon as before. i did disable hardware acceleration on flash plugin previously
