Thunderbird Preferences consuming resources
When I run Thunderbird 91.3.0 under Windows 10 Home 64bit and go to Tools|Preferences I cannot look at any other listings without Thunderbird using up huge resources and essentially hanging. I don't get to be able to specify that PDF files in incoming messages should be opened with Adobe, which is my other problem.

You likely have a language pack installed. Check Tools > add-ons and disable.
Thanks Wayne, but no language pack installed. When I installed TB91 it was on a reformatted drive with Windows 10 Home 64bit and I had add nothing.
Hold the shift key while starting Thunderbird and continue in safe mode when prompted. Does it work that way?
