No available toolbar or button after installing add-on.
After installation an add-on, I receive the message that it is in installed and can be used after re-starting Firefox. After the restart I notice in Tools-Add-ons that the new add-on is enabled, but I can't find the added button or menu or toolbar. After installing the add-on 'Firebug' I expect to find a button at the bottom right corner. After installing the add-on 'Web developer' I expect an extra toolbar and menu. I executed the install of these add-ons several times, but always without result. I installed Firefox again after cleanup and also tried to start with a new profile, but all without result. What can possible be the problem and how can I solve this ?

You can check the options of each extension in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" and make sure that you have enabled those features.
You can also check the palette in View > Toolbars > Customize and drag buttons added by an extension onto a toolbar.
Hello cor-el, with the add-on 'Firebug' the options button is not active and with 'Web developer' the options are set correctly. In View > Toolbars > Customize, I can't find the buttons that have to be added by the installation of 'Web developer' nor the button that has to be added by 'Firebug'. It seems strange to me.
You can try http://kb.mozillazine.org/Corrupt_localstore.rdf
(caution: do not delete the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox program installation folder)
Note:
Deleting the file localstore.rdf will reset the customizations of the toolbars to the defaults.
You can rename "localstore.rdf" to "localstore.rdf.sav" to test if that solves it.
Then you can restore the customization by copying "localstore.rdf.sav" to "localstore.rdf" if it didn't work.
