What is the message that is displayed in Firefox for Android when this happens?

The website Firefox keeps trying to go to is bit.ly/2QjILOO. The box says The connection has timed out. The server at bit.ly is taking too long to respond; it could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again. I have no idea what this website it or why Firefox keeps trying to go there. It keeps doing this several times a day so I would like to block it. Thanks for your help.

That didn't solve the problem. Firefox is still going to websites that I don't want it to even when I don't even have it open.

Sorry to hear that. How do you know that Firefox is doing this when it is not open?

When I go to look at my phone when it's been "asleep" Firefox comes up with not only this "bit" website but it will go to some others also. This is after I've closed Firefox using the X at the top right. Somehow it's starting up & going to these websites. I think I'll put the phone on Airplane mode & see what happens. Thanks for your help. This is something that's just started recently.

Have you installed any other apps around the time that this started happening?

I am concerned that you may have installed a malware app that is using Firefox for Android to access a website.

I have this problem as well, a number of websites “Bitcoin.news”, “Androidfixed”, “cc-news.space/en/#ad” and some others seem to be able to push data onto my phone, (using Firefox as a conduit?). Most times the page is overlaid with a page offering to tell me how to last for two and a half hours in bed (presumably having sex). The interesting thing is that the overlays have an area of what I think is Russian script. I agree that it is likely to be another app that is piggybacking on Firefox because it also intrudes via CHROME’ I have removed all the other apps I installed recently and re-installed Firefox and still get the interrupts. The latest one “cc-news.space/en/#ad” carries a message saying “tap here for antivirus update” which sounds like a trap to me, also “Jessica” is asking if I am alone? I have just installed the block site add on. I will see what happens next.

The "block site" add on seems to be partially resolving the issue, it stops the website appearing but leaves you with a screen saying it has done it. The following thoughts come to mind; 1. With respect, the question about “have you installed an app recently” is irrelevant, it seems to me that all the apps are constantly re-installing so if one has a corruption, planned or through malicious intent it could be an app I installed a year ago which has recently been updated. 2. It is definitely Firefox which is giving the bad guy access to my phone because a. The rogue websites appear in a Firefox screen b. The Firefox add-on can stop them 3. That said, since Chrome does the same thing (but without the ability to block the sites) it is not Firefox which is causing the problem. However it is Firefox which is aiding in the problems occurrence. 4. The question therefore becomes does anyone have a decent, reliable virus protection, add-blocker which can shut the source down by preventing it from functioning. Alternatively do we have a contact in the android developers who can deal with the problem? I look forward to a response…geoff

Invece nulla e Chrome è più debole di altri Browser perché Bitcoin lo apre ogni minuto come vuole affinché tu gli investi le 300€!! E giusto mio Gestore? Google e voi Team professionisti e giusto non vedete che il Vostro Browser si apre da Siti 3 parti?

Did you type yourself the first link bit.ly/2QjILOO ? because the 2nd bit.ly opens nice in a https.

Maybe you did type the OO wrong and must be 2 zero: bit.ly/2QjIL00 Then you love pizza!  :-)

Hi, I had this but an app MALWAREBYTEs Fixed it, remove any recent apps, download MALWAREBYTES and try again. BTW ithink bit.ly is a wierd kind of web hosting site.
