Why does Weebly have script issues with Firefox?

more options

This problem started on Wednesday, before then, it didn't have any issues with scripts.

I've recently started a web page of my own on Weebly. While the dashboard is usually slow to open, I always put this down to my internet connection. However it normally worked fine. Then on Wednesday, I got a dialog box saying there was an unresponsive script. I tried "stop script", and "continue", but the box kept popping up.

I finally selected "debug script", but nothing happens. I am not technologically savvy enough to know what to do next. I've contacted Weebly support, and the page opened fine for the support person that I chatted with. Today, I refreshed Firefox, but the problem still keeps happening. I also tried this in IE, and Weebly wouldn't even open (the old "server can't be found" excuse popped up).

NONE of the websites that I usually visit (Gmail, Faceboo, Yahoo, etc) have this script issue, ONLY Weebly. I am extremely frustrated, and I want to punt the computer across the room, but computers generally frown on rough treatment, so I can't do that.

Another common cause of unresponsive script errors on Windows 7 and later is the protected mode feature of the Flash player plugin. That feature has security benefits, but seems to have serious compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it using the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, find "Shockwave Flash" and click the More link. Then uncheck the box for "Enable Adobe Flash protected mode" and try that for a day to see whether it helps.

So there are a few extensions that you could turn off one by one to see if there is an improvement, however remember to clear the cache between each time to make sure that the script in the page is not cached. How to clear the Firefox cache
