Running WinXP. All my data is stored on a separate drive D:. Consequently my Thunderbird profile folders are stored there also. Have version 45.8.0 installed. The D: drive suddenly was unreadable by my system. I had a full backup of the drive but it was about a year old. I have some recovery software also and when run it was able to recover all my data along with the directory structures. I restored all the files to an empty/formatted drive. After disconnecting the old D: drive I changed the letter of the new drive to D; and gave it the same label as the original drive so the profile directory/path is the same as before. When I run TB it doesn't see my profile as it comes up as if its a clean install with no profile at all. If I run Help/Troubleshooting information it shows the Profile Folder correctly but under Mail and News Accounts it shows nothing. If I move the profile folder to a temporary folder and restore the same folder from the year old backup, everything works OK. If I compare both versions of the profile folders they seem similar except the recovered version from the old drive has a lot more mail etc. What could be missing that would cause TB not to recognize my Mail and News Accounts?
