Firefox won't prompt me to save my passwords. There are no exceptions and "remember passwords for sites is on". Password saver doesn't help.

I have checked to make sure that there are no "exceptions" and that "remember passwords for sites" is checked. I had downloaded Password Saver but it still didn't prompt for saving it. I am running a Windows 7 laptop with Firefox 3.6.12

EDIT: I have also been lead to believe that I am not in private browsing mode.

  • Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode
  • In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and features like saving new passwords are disabled
  • You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed

I do not think that I am in private browsing mode. There is not a note in the top blue bar indicating that I am, and under Tools, the "Stop Private Browsing Ctrl+Shift+P" option is grayed so I can't chose it. I also cannot use the keyboard shortcut that it indicates. All of these factors lead me to believe that I am not in private browsing mode.
