Firefox hangs & none of the discussions on the subject are helpful
I think this problem started after upgrading Firefox, about 6wks ago. On ANY site, doing ANY activity, 95% of the time, the prog either doesn't respond for up to approx 5secs at a time, or it is slow to respond to whatever I have clicked or scrolled. This leads me to have to do every mouse action TWICE and is totally infuriating. I run Windows 7 and Firefox 6.0.2. There also is a time lag when typing emails (I use Yahoo online, with the firefox browser). Sometimes I notice a time lag in Word, but it is less obvious. Should I go back to a previous version of Firefox? How do I do that? Any thoughts will be much appreciated. Please bear in mind that I am not an IT person, just a savvy user, so I don't understand high-level tech talk! Cheers, Lisa

Hi Scoobidiver, I did check out the Firefox hangs page, but nothing seems to tally with my problem. It's not on start up, or when closing, or on specific pages. It happens all the time. I do occasionally get a warning telling me that I have high CPU usage, and most recently, it has been blamed on PLUG IN CONTAINER FOR FIREFOX, but I can't seem to get more info - I don't know where to look, what to turn off or remove, etc.
As I said, it seemed to start when I upgraded Firefox. Perhaps if I went back to an older version, the problem would go away? Thanks,
Lisa
There are two sections about your hang in normal browsing:
Downgrading to a version different from 3.6 exposes your computer to threats from malicious websites exploiting known security vulnerabilities.
