Why are you removing static toolbars?
I have been using the Roboform toolbar in Firefox for years, and suddenly they're telling me you're no longer going to be supporting these toolbars so they've put Roboform in just a stupid little button that makes me do three times the work to use it that I did when it was a toolbar.
I don't want any stupid explanations really, especially related to webextension standards or what Chrome is doing. I don't care what they're doing. I just want you to put back support for static toolbars. . . NOW!

Roboform just released a new WebExtensions for Firefox 54 and later which doesn't provide anywhere near the same features that the old legacy extension did.
My advice is to install Firefox 52 ESR which will be supported by Mozilla well into 2018, and get the older Roboform extension for Firefox 52.
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/ Yes, intended for "organizations" but there is n reason that regular users can't use it; many of us do use the ESR version.
I have the same problem! Taskbar are there because are very very very practical!!!!
Why I have to move the mouse on top right corner, away from the web site, doing three more clicks to achieve the same result?
Even if we get Firefox 52 ESR , we will hit the same problem in a few months or a year!
The one-button-drop-menu is the new normal for what extensions can add to Firefox's interface. Support volunteers cannot restore the broad powers of extensions to modify the entire browser. You can give further feedback here:

Meanwhile, RoboForm has an interesting feature called the "lower toolbar" -- it's roughly the same as the old toolbar but it hangs out below the Firefox window if it's a resizable window, and floats over the bottom of the page on a maximized window. (I don't see any way to move it from its preferred location, but I only installed RoboForm to check it out and am not intimately familiar with it.)
To turn this on, go to the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then find RoboForm on the right side and click its Options button. Scroll down and find the relevant checkbox, as shown in the attached screenshot.

This is absurd. I want that static toolbar back in the regular toobar area! Why remove a feature and screw everything up? I HATE having a toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Why force me to have toolbars in two different places? It takes up a whole vertical row, where the static toolbar rested comfortably above next to one of the other toolbars. This is absolutely inexcusable!
I did post on their Facebook page too, but thanks for the other locations to provide feedback.
I refuse to have to downgrade my version of the browser and Roboform too. Good grief. How dumb is this?
Toolbar on top, gave additional options for mouse-hover. This cant be achieved anymore!!!!
Also, can the most used icon be moved in a central position ? Why should I move my mouse at the top right corner to access it? I am doing it about 300 times a day!!!!
We want the old toolbar back! It's more practical!
jscher2000: yes, we show the option for the lower toolbar. Its not practical.
I don't understand why addons cant have toolbars anymore, even if users like them, or have to confirm it for security reasons (or whatever)! Who had this brilliant idea? No one disagree on that during development?

Thank you, amprantino, for chiming in on this. I hope the folks at Mozilla are listening.
At least I expect a way to move the button to a better (=central) position
Some addons are better as buttons some better as toolbars. It depends on their usage & functionality!
Really, I don't understand why they disabled toolbars! This year was the last time I donated to firefox and probably I will move to other browsers :(

To move buttons on the toolbar, use the Customize feature. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.
I don't want to add a stupid button to a toolbar. I want my Roboform toolbar back functioning the way it was!!!!! Seriously, how dumb is that? I want to be clear . . . It takes about three times as long to use a roboform login as it did before with the toolbar. That is completely unacceptable.

Hi klgrube, first, I was answering someone else's question as you can see from the quotes I included in my reply.
Second, it's no use ranting here, as I explained before. It might be therapeutic for you, but support volunteers don't make policy decisions.
Okay, then tell me how to reach out to Mozilla about this? A real phone number or email address would be good, since all their stupid support page does is wind up sending you here. Good grief.

Actually, someone already filed a request in the bug tracking system (1215064) to create a WebExtensions API to allow Firefox extensions to do things with the toolbars. It is assigned "P2" priority, but it seems to be at the idea stage so I suspect it will not go anywhere until after all the main work for Firefox 57 is completed, or unless an external developer steps forward with a design and code ready for testing.
I don't know whether that's good news or not. I desperately wish they were actually listening to people. This is really unacceptable and outrageous.
I support the concern raised here and I would like to ask Mozilla to keep this issue open. This issue should NOT be marked as Solved, for it is NOT solved. Returning to an older version of Roboform and/or Firefox DOES NOT work for everyone (me included) because Firefox is crashing when we do that. Nobody has been able to help thus far. Even the new version of Roboform with the new version of Firefox crashes under certain circumstances with the lower toolbar.
Furthermore, lets be clear, Roboform is NOT responsible for this problem. Firefox caused this unhappiness amongst Firefox and Roboform customers because Firefox decided to deprecate the feature on Firefox that made it possible for Siber systems to create the Roboform toolbar that the customers of both Firefox and Roboform want, like and expect.
Sure, Firefox owns its browser and you can do with it as you please if you don't care about your customers. However we are UNHAPPY with the decision and we hope that all this messages are being passed on to the people at Mozilla who took this very unpopular decision that is causing many of us to desperately look for another browser that will fulfill our needs.
As a user of Firefox and Roboform for over a decade I dont think that I am alone in this frustration and I honestly don't think that Mozilla wants all of its Firefox users to remove Firefox and move to another browser.
Perhaps Mozilla didn't realize that their change would cause so much anger and put at risk the use of Firefox by all of its customers. Hopefully somebody can escalate this issue to the right level at Firefox so that they can reconsider.
If none of the moderators in this forum can do that, perhaps you can tell us what is the appropriate avenue for that.
The new buttons are much slower as have to load much more menus (the whole menu) instead of the required ones.
I really believe that finally we have to move to other browsers supporting toolbars

Yes, the button approach is a step back in the progress and uniqueness of Firefox. I don't understand what was going on in the minds of Mozilla when they decided to go that route. Maybe they lack an understanding of their users and don't understand that the reason many of us chose Firefox vs. many of the other choices out there was our ability to customize to our liking. Remove or cripple customization and you get a VERY angry customer base that may jump board and look for an alternative browser.
When talking about Roboform in particular the issue is grave indeed for the following reasons:
- Triggering a bookmark now requires more mouse movements/clicks - Functionality of the previous toolbar like the highlighter are gone - Customization of the toolbar is gone - The new toolbar button crashes constantly - The lower toolbar crashes even more frequently - Filling in of forms that open up in pop up windows doesn't work unless one has the lower toolbar enabled, and that causes very frequent crashes - The lower tool bar is in a location that nobody wants
Oh, and before another moderator comes through with an argument that Roboform or Siber is responsible for their toolbar, let me remind you that all of this problem are because Mozilla (NOT Siber/Roboform) chose to deprecate its browser ignoring its customers.
Now please don't go crying to the competition board if all your customers move back to Internet Explorer. No, it won't be Microsoft doing noncompetitive things and stealing away your customer base. YOU, Mozilla, have forgotten why we chose you. YOU Mozilla have chosen to abandon your customers and ignore our preferences. You alone will be responsible for losing your userbase. Not Microsoft and not anybody else. YOU!
When some companies support will reply "Remove firefox and move on with Chrome or IE" they will start thinking this issue more seriously.
