How do I enter a URL without the www or ext, like the older versions?
In the address field (URL) I used to be able to just type in the name of the site. Now, I'm required to add the prefix www and exts like .com. What happened? It's much more effort now. I receive a jar:file page: jar:file:///C:/Program%20Files%20%28x86%29/Mozilla%20Firefox/omni.jar!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region/region.propertiesfjn

The "Ask.com toolbar" extension has been reported to cause this issue.
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I removed Ask.com tool bar which was tied into FoxIt - oh well. No improvement. I tried safe mode. Still no improvement. All of the wonderful advancements are nice - but I don't use them. I do use the shorthand entry for URLs though. So, I'd rather go back to an older version. Which one would that be and where may I download it? I appreciate your assistance.
