Why does the cookie google.com appear immediately when I start Firefox? I clear my browsing history upon exit and my home page is https://duckduckgo.com.
When I open Firefox to my home page duckduckgo.com and go check cookies before doing anything else, I find only the one cookie google.com. My Privacy options are Tracking Tell sites I do not want to be tracked History Use custom settings for history

Firefox has an internal cookie from Google, which is named PREF, and is associated with requesting the list of bad sites from the SafeBrowsing project. This is separate from the PREF cookie used when visiting Google search.
However, I don't know what google.dat is. What site is it for and what kind of data does it seem to contain?
