I'll be on my desired website when Yahoo will take me away to another Yahoo site. Why is this?

I've been having problems ever since I did the update. Why do I have this problem (as mentions above) ?

On Macs, the unbidden appearance of a Yahoo results page usually is caused by Spigot or Conduit add-ons, or something else that snuck in undetected with some other software you downloaded.

Please try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Cmd+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or remove). Especially if you find something called SearchMe. Bear in mind that all extensions are optional and none are included with Firefox when you first get it.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that help you regain control?

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

I tried disabling all nonessential extensions on the add-ons page. I thought this worked but I still get ripped away from my page on to the Yahoo page and it tries to keep me there. Really annoying. I also had it removed prior, as a search page option, so to see it again is unwelcoming, to say the least.

What extensions do you have now, if any? The most convenient way to get the list is the support information page. Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

Scroll down to the Extensions heading, then select from there to the end of the table that follows. When you paste it into a reply, it may look a bit messy, but we're used to it. Maybe we can spot the problem.

No more extensions ( add-ons ) are there. The page is blank, but I still have the problem with the Yahoo page interrupting.

The support information page should not be blank. Does it have the Extensions heading followed immediately by the Graphics heading with no list in between?

Could you check your connection setting here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences > Advanced

Click the "Network" mini-tab and then the "Settings" button. Please try "No proxy" and see whether that makes any difference.

So far it has seemed to help. I haven't seen the Yahoo page yet. Thanks!
