On V4.0, I am unable to get Firefox to save my passwords for critical websites I use frequently. I have followed the recommended procedures to insure that I am asking Firefox to remember passwords.

I have gone to tools, options, security and have made sure that remember passwords is checked, but I never get the request to save the passwords when accessing websites requiring username and password. I am using Windows 7 Operating System.

I spent hours trying to remedy this yesterday but eventually discovered that if you click twice (not a double-click) in the slot, Firefox shows your name and password. So many things not functioning and/or unexplained in Firefox 4.

Toinette; Not being a long time user of Facebook, I don't now what you mean by double click in the slot. Which part of the Facebook web site is the slot? I have achieved some success in what you suggested but not too sure where I double clicked to be able to save username and password which I was able to accomplish only once or twice with any reliability.

I uninstalled Firefox 4.0 and then reinstalled Firefox 3.6 and my passwords have reappeared.

Thank you, Stopes. I tried reinstalling 3.6 and got somewhat better results. I went back to 4.0 and then got intermittent good results. I don't know why some web site passwords get saved and other do not. I will keep working on it and asking family members who use Firefox.
