Disable Pocket article recommendations in the New Tab page (advanced instructions)

If you want to disable the feature within the browser and are comfortable with the Firefox Configuration Editor (about:config page), take the following steps to turn off recommendations in your advanced browser settings:

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press EnterReturn.
A warning page may appear. Click Accept the Risk and Continue to go to the about:config page.
    • If you are comfortable proceeding, accept the warning message that appears. If not, go back and refer to the instructions using the Settings page above.
  2. Search for the preference browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.system.topstories and double-click it to set it to False. When you open a new tab, you'll no longer see articles recommended.

To bring back recommended articles, repeat the above steps except double-click the preference to reset it to True.
