Pocket for Firefox lets you easily save a variety of Web content such as blogs, news sources, webpages and videos, with the click of a button. When you open a new tab in Firefox on your computer, the New Tab page will display Pocket recommended stories that feature the best content collected by other Pocket users. - Click the cogwheel
icon in the upper right corner of the New Tab page.
- In the menu that appears, click the toggle to switch it off .
- If you're enjoying these recommendations but simply do not want to see sponsored stories, just uncheck the checkbox.
- Click to finish.
Tip: Another way you can hide Pocket content is from the Firefox settings panel:
- In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click and then select or , depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button and select .
- Select the panel.
- Deselect the checkbox in the Firefox Home Content section.
Disable Pocket article recommendations in the New Tab page (advanced instructions)
If you want to disable the feature within the browser and are comfortable with the Firefox Configuration Editor (about:config page), take the following steps to turn off recommendations in your advanced browser settings:
- Type about:config in the address bar and press EnterReturn.
A warning page may appear. Click to go to the about:config page.- If you are comfortable proceeding, accept the warning message that appears. If not, go back and refer to the instructions using the Settings page above.
- Search for the preference browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.system.topstories and double-click it to set it to False. When you open a new tab, you'll no longer see articles recommended.
To bring back recommended articles, repeat the above steps except double-click the preference to reset it to True.
