Send and manage email

The Firefox OS Email app lets you send email and manage email for multiple accounts. This article will show you how.

Note: Before you can start sending emails or use the share with email feature, you'll need to add your account. See Add email accounts for help.

Send a new email

  1. Open the email app email.
  2. Tap the new message button in the upper-right corner Editmessages to open a new, blank email.
  3. You can add a recipient by typing an email address or you can tap the + button to choose someone from your contacts.
  4. When you're ready to send your email, just tap the send button in the upper-right corner.

Send a new email

  1. Open the email app emailemail 1.3Email 1.4email 2.0 .
  2. Tap the new message button in the upper-right corner Editmessages to open a blank email.
  3. Type in your recipient's email address or tap the + button to choose someone from your contacts.
  4. To send a file to your recipient, tap the paper clip icon on the upper-right corner.
  5. Choose the location of the file you want to send: video, music, gallery, or camera
  6. Tap Done after you've selected your file. If you want to send more than one file, tap the paper clip icon again and repeat the steps above.
  7. When you're ready to send your email, just tap the send button in the upper-right corner.

Tip: You can also send an email directly from an entry in the Contacts app. Just tap on a person's email address to start a new message in the E-Mail app.

Reply to or forward an email

  • To reply to an email, tap the reply button reply at the bottom of the screen. To reply to all, tap the reply all button reply all.
  • To forward an email, tap the forward button at the bottom of the screen forward.
  • To reply to an email, tap the reply button (single arrow) at the top of the screen. To reply to all, tap the reply all button (two arrows).

  1. To reply to or forward an email, tap the paper icon (single arrow) at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Choose from the following options on the next screen:
    • Reply: sends a response to the sender only.
    • Reply All: sends a response to all recipients of that email.
    • Forward: sends the message to someone else.

Manage your email

You can quickly delete, flag, mark as unread or file your email. Here's how:

  1. On the email list screen, tap the edit button along the bottom.

  2. Tap the emails you want to work with.
  3. Then choose an action at the bottom of the screen.

Low memory devices: Devices with version 1.3T can download email files of up to 2MB.

The select button lets you delete, file, or mark multiple emails as unread. Here's how to do it:

  1. On the email list screen, tap the check mark icon on the bottom:

  2. Select the emails you want to work on by tapping the boxes next to them.
  3. Choose an action at the bottom of the screen.

Access email folders

Firefox OS will load the folders you've set up for your email account. To access these folders, open the E-mail app and tap the the menu button Orange FxOS buttonemail menu 2.0 at the top left corner of the screen.

Switch accounts

The E-Mail app makes it easy to switch between multiple email accounts:

  1. Tap the menu button Orange FxOS button at the top left corner of the main screen.
  2. Tap the back arrow at the top of the screen,
    back email 1.3
  3. Tap the email address you want to switch to:

  1. Tap the menu button email menu 2.0 at the top left corner of the main screen.
  2. Tap the down arrow and choose an email account to switch to:
