The text is displayed correctly on my screen. But is received with the random inclusion of groups of special characters making the legibility difficult. What can I do to correct this. I am using AOL Mail on a W10 laptop.

Chosen solution

Try this: open Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor and double-click the preference mail.strictly_mime to set it to true, OK to close Options. Do recipients still see the special characters?

Under Tools/Options/Display/Formatting/Advanced, what do you have for the Text Encoding for Outgoing Mail? Set to UTF-8 if it's not already.
