Firefox 4 had WAY too many and within 24 hours we reverted our computers back to 3.6.16 to get another whole set of problems. Well actually this issue was happening with firefox 4, but for whatever reason the problem was left behind on both computers after going back! What happens is that pages will NOT load and it doesn't matter what...including Mozilla Support!! Sometimes the refresh button will get pages too load after 3-4 attempts, or going back to the previous page and re-clicking the original link may or may not work. I've ran CCleaner too no avail. Also might note that the instructions for downloading the previous version and then going into Add/Remove programs to delete Firefox/Mozilla 4 is not how the process worked for us. During the downloading phase the previous version (4 in this case) is automatically "cleaned" out...in their words "housekeeping" . Apparently some bug is left behind! Not ever was this "Page Not Found" error ever an issue before updating the 4 and then back. This is completely frustrating to say the least and I would like to know how to fix it!! Thank You

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Do you mean access it from the control panel>Security Center>? Which one "Internet Options" or "Windows Firewall"??

well went into my firewall "windows firewall", removed Mozilla and re-added itand then re-started the OS, but didn't make a difference. As far as I know all I ever had were extensions such as Add-Block Plus, but no add-ons. As I stated before once I reloaded the previous version there wasn't any other version left behind in Add/Remove Programs. What else could the problem be? All I know is that this issue only started after getting rid of firefox 4. It now takes 5-10 attempts to get most pages to open...."Server Not Found"!!

Ok this is extremely bizarre!! After doing everything I described above, I finally opted to go ahead and remove Firefox 3.6.16 altogether and reload it. However when it finished the install and launched the new browser, the tabs that were opened before X'ing out came right back up with the freshly new loaded program! That of coarse was only after getting the "Server Not Found" again and hitting "Re-Try"!! Can't even describe how very frustrated I am with this BS! I have been a loyal Mozilla fan since I don't know when....that is until NOW! Also with this new download and with the last back to this version, I have noticed that the Refresh and Home icons have been moved clear over to the left hand side of the browser, yet the other computer (my DH's) that we updated to 4 and back has those two features exactly where they originally were. His computer has also been having the same exact "Server Not Found" issue since reverting back to the previous version as well. This for sure is NOT some internal issue but rather some issue/bugs left behind from the crappy version 4!!! Really DO NOT want to have to resort to IE! I certainly can't have this "Server Not Found" issue happening to me during paying my bills via my online bill pay to have the page re-send info and end up paying 2x the money!!!!!! Please come up with another solution...please please!!!
