revert about:config to default settings
Someone installed yahoo messenger on my computer without my permission. Yahoo has changed a number of items in the about:config settings. Is it possible to revert just the settings screwed up by yahoo back to default, without setting the entire of Firefox back to default, losing all my add-ons/extensions and personal settings?

You have two choices:
- a lot of right-click>Reset in about:config, or
- manually editing the prefs.js file, with a somewhat greater potential to wreck your settings
To use about:config, you can simply filter using the word Yahoo. So that would be:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste yahoo and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Right-click each preference you want to clear and choose Reset; SPEED TIP: press the r key instead of clicking Reset on the menu (works best if you use the mouse right-handed)
After you restart Firefox, the ones that became completely blank during the above process should completely disappear from the list.
Any luck?

Outstanding! I had already figured out to search for yahoo, but I did not realize the "reset" option existed. . . Perfect solution, thank you so very much!
