When you click the panel with the "i-in-a-circle" it will provide details on any permission exceptions you've made for the current website. Examples of permission exceptions are:

  • Allow pop-up windows
  • Block notifications

Usually you set these using various interface elements. For example, with popups, Firefox may display a bar between the main toolbar and the top of the page with a button to allow/block popups. For notifications, a panel drops from the left end of the address bar when the site requests permission to show you notifications, and you can use a little drop-down there to make a permission change.

Regarding the title of this thread -- "you have disabled protection for this page" -- that may relate to the Tracking Protection feature in private windows. There should be a button on the drop-down panel to switch it back on in that case. I'm attaching an example for reference. Is that the message you're seeing?

Note that Firefox adds a notch at one o'clock to the Control Center 'i' icon when you have made change to the default permissions.

"You have disabled protection for this page" can also refer to mixed content and you have modified the related prefs.

  • security.mixed_content.block_active_content
  • security.mixed_content.block_display_content

You can see a special padlock at the left end of the location/address bar.

  • a padlock with a strike through means that mixed active content is blocked.
  • a padlock with an exclamation mark attached means that mixed passive content (e.g. images) is present, but not blocked.

The shield icon, previously used for mixed active content, is now used for Tracking Protection.
