On tabs, what do the numbers in parentheses mean?

To the left of the location name on some tabs, sometimes there is a number to the left that is in parenthesis. What does that number mean? Should I get rid of it? How?

I am following your directions (I thought), but without finding MS Paint, I don't know what to do next. When I open the windows white window icon at bottom left, I cannot find MS Paint. Therefor, I have no idea where the dozen or so screenshots have gone.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
