How to turn off jpg caching?

I've noticed some odd behavior with Wikipedia and Firefox that I never see on other websites. It has to do with looking at images.

- If I am in a Wiki page and click on an image on the right it brings it up in a Firefix 'view window'. I then click ESC to close the window. - Then if I click the 'back' button on the left side of my mouse it returns me to the popup image instead of a previous webpage.

May not sound like much but if I have been though several pages looking at images and want to go back...I have to click many times to get back to the original page, cumbersome. Its as though its caching jpgs.

AN EXAMPLE: Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog and click on the dog photo on the right. Click ESC to close the popup, then click the back button on the left of the mouse. Any idea why this occurs?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can hold down the left mouse on the Back or Forward button until the tab session history drop-down list opens to find the entry to that page.

Thanks, but I just found the real cause. It's the "Media Viewer" that Wiki uses to allow full screen image to appear in a browser.

For some reason its code creates has this caching behavior, I found their forum and just posed a question there.
