I have Win XP SP3 and FF 52.5.2, Since installing FF 52.5.2 esr and the coincidence of Norton withdrawing its toolbar my Firefox became very sluggish and malfunctioned at times by not allowing me to type into my FF home page search bar (Google) and bringing up my Bookmarks list instead. Consequently I refreshed Firefox and at the moment it seems to have helped. I haven't had a malfunction since (touch wood).

What I would like to know is if I decided to uninstall my FF altogether and reinstall with 52,5,2 esr is that a complete version of Firefox, I ask this because my current Firefox in the Control Panel shows a size of 116 mb and the FF 52.5,2 setup is 43.3.mb.

The setup file is a compressed version. The size shown in control panel is when the setup has be decompressed to place all the files in the correct location.

Many thanks, Jagan605. | was hoping that was the case. With two types of Firefox I was concerned that ESR had to be superimposed over the normal Firefox. I am happy to learn that ESR is a complete FF version in its own right.

ESR stands for Extended Support Release and was originally intended for enterprise and such users in mind.

Firefox 53.0 and later dropped support for the End Of Life (EOL) WinXP and Vista as Mozilla serves the Firefox 52 ESR to them instead.

Firefox 52.8.0esr out in May 2018 will likely be the last update for Firefox 52 ESR and version to run on WinXP/Vista.

Thank you for that information, James. I was aware that I had been switched to ESR by an update but not sure if it enhanced the program already installed or was a completely new program. I understand now that it is a complete stand alone program that I can install if I ever uninstall my current FF program.
