Need to recover my password file
I accidentally removed the mailbox line from my list of passwords, and need to restore it. Where can I find yesterday password file so I can restore it or is there a place where I can add the following line (the one I accidentally removed) to my password list: mailbox://pop.broadband.rogers.com (mailbox://pop.broadband.rogers.com)

Thunderbird will prompt you for the password when it's needed.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to happen. I seem to recall that somewhere in my computer there is a profile containing all the relevant files to run Thunderbird and there must be an earlier (backed up) version of the password file. Can you guide me to this file so I can replace the one I accidentally damaged yesterday? Thanks, Dave.
Further to my previous reply (last posting), I just tried it again and when I attempt to "get messages" for this account, I receive and "error message" stating . . .
"ERROR WITH ACCOUNT mile_oak@rogers.com Sending of password for user mile_oak@rogers.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: Server error - please try again."
I am using Thunderbird as a POP email client to my rogers/yahoo email account. If I go directly into Rogers via Yahoo email (i.e., not using Thunderbird as a POP email client), I have no difficulty seeing my messages.
Thunderbird received messages with no problem yesterday before I accidentally removed the line for this account from Thunderbird's password list.
Desperate for help since I am a published book author with books selling in 4 countries mile_oak@rogers.com is the account all my readers use to contact me.
Thanks,
Dave.

I guess your best bet is to contact Rogers/Yahoo when the server is at fault.

Webmail infrastructure is independent from POP/IMAP/SMTP servers. Therefore, if webmail works, this isn't an indication that there are no other problems.

That means you have full access to your account via webmail. While I understand having to use webmail can be a royal pain, you can use it as a workaround as long as the Yahoo server has problems. Note, it usually isn't a good idea to post your full email address to a public forum, unless you want to be a spam magnet.

Correct. To find your profile see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_how-to-find-your-profile
and there must be an earlier (backed up) version of the password file.
Even though this support query was for Firefox, it also applies to Thunderbird. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1076170
Even if you restore a backed up version of your password file, it won't help you as long as the server is the problem.
Yahoo declared everyone else less secure. This is coming from a company with 2 very large and unreported hacks. Ironic huh? Good reading. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN27791.html
I don't think the yahoo server was the culprit but thanks to all who have sent possible solutions to my problem. While thinking my way through the situation, I realized that during the early morning of the day I messed up my password file, I had luckily performed a Macrium Reflect disk image backup routine and had not used my computer since except for the password dilemma. I performed a Macrium Restore - a sledge hammer for what should have been a simple fix. But it worked and all is fine now.
Incidentally, this situation came about as Rogers, my ISP was attempting via Chat to convert my passwords to a new secure hash password system the company is implementing on June 30th.
I guess I am now back in control of my email environment using Thunderbird . . . until June 30th when this new password system commences. But that's a topic for another day.
Dave.

Wow. They should have done that years ago.

It does NOT prompt for missing password. It doesn't do anything when trying to Send or Get All Messages. A view of Tools > Options > Security> Passwords > Saved Passwords (which really should say "Saved Logins" and it's called continuity) opens "Saved Logins" that is now empty of the 34 email addresses. Ergo, the generic should-be is really 'is-not'.

Outernaut,
please start a new topic for your problem. https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new
Dear Outernaut, I'm not sure why all of a sudden I'm getting messages concerning a problem I posted in May. It was solved within days and I marked it as "Solved." I don't have a new topic to start. Dave.
Dave,. It is because Outernaut thinks forum rules do not apply to him and he hijacked several threads. Everyone that was involved in these old, solved threads gets a notification when he posts to one. Pretty rude huh? On top of that he is looking at screens in Firefox and complaining about Thunderbird. Not too bright!

No. I updated the information here because too many people will read it , and the info was incorrect. There is nothing wrong in updating misinformation.

Do NOT pretend to read minds. If you have something to say about me, say it to me. Or, ply your teen-drama cry-bully stuff on someone else. Kids - sheesh! Plonk!

I don't control your subscriptions to posts. Apparently, there is none! ;) I added the updated information so that anyone searching for an answer here and reads it, will know that it is not always the case - as contributor christ1 originally stated.
Remember, these old posts are seen by searching for an answer - and Tbird update after update puts some of the answers, even solved ones, in a poor light. I was merely adding to the generic solution we see here, that this may not be the case - today.
Sorry you were dragged back here for no reason. I thought it was a community forum with peer assistance and would volunteer now and then to assist if I know the answer, or update old information, which seems to turn over rocks. Won't help again - not here. Promise and again, so sorry.

The screenshot you posted is a Firefox screen. You are the one posting misleading, incorrect info and I have no problem saying that to your face. Name the place. This forum is about Thunderbird email client and all the info in the original post is correct.

1 - Did you try the steps I used in Tbird as suggested to arrive at the screen?
2 - Did you see the Tbird logo in the top left on the image I posted? Do you see the FF logo there, or Tbird logo?
If you answer no, then this discussion is ended.\
I just opened Thunderbird again, to test your rash claim, and I clicked Tools>Options>Security>Passwords> and got the same TBIRD screen of which I already posted a copy of.
You can lay claim to whatever you wish - enjoy. But the image speaks for itself and the logo confirms it. But if you keep on insisting it is a FF screen, and without even trying the process I used to get to the screen, or refuse to respond re the logo without looking at the logo, then stop harassing and bullying me with your Troglodyte-like war rants. Please and thank you! Do some looking before barking. OK? Good bye.
