'read only' is not checked but all attachments & down loads come out read only

I used t be able to edit my attachments and downloads but now they come 'read only'. The 'read only' box is not checked

Downloaded files (attachments) are read-only to prevent dataloss. It is not guaranteed that you keep the file and that the file is not removed after closing the editor. You have to use File > Save as to save the file if you want to make changes.
