How do I Stop 'Logout' from opening in new tab?
I have my setting to open links as new tab. HOWEVER, when I click on a website to 'logout' most times it treats it as a 'link' and then opens a new tab - this means that the page I was on is still open.... this can't be very secure, especially when the website I just tried to log out of is the bank, paypal, USPS, etc...
HOW do I get Firefox to distinquish the difference? Surely you all can fix this... or I won't be able to use Firefox for any website that requires login/logout...
Thanks

- I also have 'Open Links as a New Tab' and can't say that I regularly run into this. Even so, just hover back over to the site's Tab at the left and Close it and Close the Sign-Out page (Tab) you're on. There are times I have many Tabs opened on a Sign-in site and after logging-out, I just close all the remaining Tabs.
- Another way: Right-Click the Log-Out/Sign-Out link and 'Copy Link Location'. Now, in the URL Box, put your cursor there Right-Click and 'Paste-&-Go' with the Log-Out/Sign-Out link. No New Tab.
- Placing your cursor in the URL box and Right-Clicking to bring-up the context box should highlight the current link in blue, so when you 'Paste-&-Go', it deletes the URL there while Pasting and going to the Log-Out/Sign-Out link in one step.
- My Usual And The Better Way with Sign-In Sites:
- Sites I usually sign-in to, especially shopping sites, I have them in their own browser window. Let's say Amazon. I open a new browser window. I sign-in to Amazon. I have one or more Tabs open as I shop (it can be a few or a dozen or more Tabs as I compare one or more items and/or looking at other items). I either buy (or don't) then I sign-out.
- Now, I simply close that browser window and all of its Tabs when I click on the X in the upper-right corner.
- For 'Better Security', it's best to always shop/bank in its own browser window - not mixed with other common browsing windows/Tabs.
