Videos on some websites wont work but do work with Chrome?
W7. Firefox 66.0.1 Livestream video from some free livestream websites (sports) will not work with Firefox but will work with Chrome. In other words, when the video stalls on FF, I copy and paste into Chrome and it works. I've tried all the usual; disable ABP, unblock trackers, clear cache, and not using and AV. I have Lenovo laptop and Thinkpad, results are the same on both, failure to get a working video with FF on some websites.......but not all, videos will work on some websites. Thank you

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems
Firefox shows the shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case Content Blocking is blocking content.
- click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection
You can check the Web Console about what content is blocked
- "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tracking-protection
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/content-blocking

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Please provide a public link (no password) that we can
check out. No Personal Information Please !
Does the Web Console show any error messages about playing media files?

Thank you.
In Safe Mode video starts and works OK.
How do I determine what is causing the issue?
Trial and error, my friend. Trial and error.

I got this on several links: This video cannot be played because of a technical error.(Error Code: 100000)
I got to this link, but it would not play the clip normal Firefox. https://vipbox.im/watch-carolina-hurricanes-vs-montreal-canadiens-stream-7
Fred, I kept getting stanky pop-ups when trying-out this site. The worst happened in the image I attached! I had to 'End Task' the browser window I opened to test the video links. Dangerous site.

I gave up testing the links, as I kept getting bogus pop-ups and the last one tried to 'get me', but I killed the browser window process in Task Manager.
You have AdBlock and uBlock. Pick one and dump the other. Not wise to run two Extensions that do the same task. (Myself, I have uBlock Origin. It is Memory-Friendlier than AdBlock.)

PJ That first one is something asking for a password.
As to the update, Firefox is now at v65.0.1
Edit: Opps, sorry. 66.0.1 March 22, 2019

Yeah, it could have been a legit ID/Password box, but I wasn't gonna chance it by clicking 'Cancel'.

@ Pj :
This is way off topic, but :
That "Authentication Required" is not legit ! It comes from a scammer ("bigmajor.cool").
When you get a scam page that shows that two-line 'Authentication Required' dialog, and you cancel it, usually the page will reload and show it again. To break the cycle, tap the Esc key several times in a row quickly. That should cancel the dialog as well as the reload. Then you can easily close the tab.

There ya go. That's why I didn't want to hit CANCEL, not knowing what the scammer is going to do - like perhaps start downloading or executing something nasty. That Cancel button can be anything other than 'Cancel'.
The safer way I knew how was to End The Task / Kill that browser window in Task Manager. (Wink)

Thanks to everyone for the input. I cut the cable years ago and have been using various websites for free sports, my apologies for the pop ups, one learns to deal with them. I use ad block and only disconnected it for test purposes.
You should contact support for the website and tell them there is a problem with the clips.
Also, tell them their site may have malware.
