This is a feature regression that happened probably 2 years ago and has finally irritated me enough to make a ticket. If I click in the address bar and type a new address or search, I want to close the tab I am on and navigate to the address or search that I entered. Doing that on desktop has the desired behavior of using the same tab and navigating away. Doing this on android used to be like desktop. Now it is awful and you end up with a million not closed tabs. What is worse is clicking back from that first new search tab leaves the tab open and goes back to the tab you were just on. So now I have two tabs one of which is orphaned the next time I search something and I will forget about it. I tried to look for flags on android to flip it back, but you got rid of these I think the same release the behavior changed. Sincerely someone who used to have like maybe 15 tabs and now has a few thousand all because of your crummy decision to not close tabs when navigating away.
