When I delete attachments from received emails, the entire body text of the email received turns into characters like the following:

iz?קܩy'?׷m_y[܏???[???[?ΝH\?[X\[ZXܛٝ?XN[???[?ΛH\

There is no original legible text remaining from the email received.

I never had this issue before, and it started only after the recent Thunderbird update.

Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks so much for the quick and accurate reply. Uninstalled 52.9, and re-installed 52.8. It works perfectly, just as before. Many thanks!
