Major Problem

I hope someone can help here. I have used Tbird and FF almost exclusively from release. Thundebird is my only email program and the whole thing is playing up badly at the moment. I can send no emails. Some emails that show in the inbox show a blank screen and can not be deleted. All messages I send come back with an end of message error and SMTP blocked (see attached). This happened a few weeks ago and my email sourse gave me some new settings using port 587 and it worked ok until a few days ago then exactly the same again. They have checked and everyting works ok for them. I then checked with BitDefender to see if they could assist and everything was as expected so I did a complete computr scan with it and it came back with 3 trojan errors all of which were in Thunderbird. So I decided to do a complete delete and reinstall. No matter what I do or what I deleteincluding shutdown after every delete, when I reinstall it comes back with the total and Faulty Thunderbird So I can't start with a clean sheet. Not that I would like to as I have hundreds of contacts an email saves going back many years. Suggestions anyone

I have two outlook email accounts. With both I get the error: "unable to log in at server probably wrong configuration username or password "

Username and password are correct because a mini browser window pops up, asking me to allow Thunderbird as an authorised program to access my emails.

Also the details are found correctly from probing the server anyway.

Hallo, ich kann seit gestern keine Emails mehr bei Thunderbird versenden und auch keine empfangen. Ich habe 3 Email Adressen dort eingerichtet. Bis gestern funktioniert alles. Woran kann das liegen, habe nichts verändert. Hat ein Thunderbird ein Problem auf den Server zu zugreifen?

How can I stop these unwanted emails? They are ruining the enjoyment I thought I would enjoy by joining your email site.

Hi, I am wondering why I have to close Thunderbird and reopen to get my emails. If I don't get emails for a few hours I close and reopen and there they are. I am running Windows 11, using Comcast/Xfinity, Port 993 and Port 465, SSL/TLS. What should I change or do so I get my emails immediately when they are sent to me? Thanks-In-Advance. Marc

Guys, I am on TB 128.6.0esr (64-bit) and I am using TB since Netscape era (25 years now). Since last update, when I try to forward an email in my Sent box, it produces a… (emoñe’ẽve)

Guys, I am on TB 128.6.0esr (64-bit) and I am using TB since Netscape era (25 years now).

Since last update, when I try to forward an email in my Sent box, it produces a blank window with only the subject filled-in. No content, no attachments.

I tried Repair to the box but it's still the same.

The problem happens with all recent mails but not with all older mails. For example, some older mails, sent e.g. one year ago, or more, when clicking forward, behave as expected, with content and attachments. Other ones, however, do not work and open as blank windows, as I explained.

It works always with "Forward as Attachment", but this is NOT what I want.

Has anyone faced this problem? Do you have any suggestions? Should I file a bug?

Receive an error message when compacting a Thunderbird email account

I am receiving the following error message on a Win 11 desktop running Thunderbird 128.6.0.esr (64 bit): "The folder '[Gmail]/Trash on my.fr33.email@gmail.com' could not … (emoñe’ẽve)

I am receiving the following error message on a Win 11 desktop running Thunderbird 128.6.0.esr (64 bit): "The folder '[Gmail]/Trash on my.fr33.email@gmail.com' could not be compacted because writing to the folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again." I do not have a folder [Gmail]/Trash on the gmail server. I also do not get this error on other Thunderbird clients running Win 10 or Win 11. I also do NOT get the error when I manually compact the my.fr33.email account, either at the account level or at the Gmail folder level. Once I acknowledge the error the system seems to run normally until is wants to automatically compact folders. Any suggestions will be appreciated. -- John Randle Knoxville, TN

The following is a simplified representation of my Thunderbird (128.6.0esr (64-bit)) setup for controlling emails in my gmail account. Each account contains many emails and my plan was to transfer many of them to "Local Folders"

Local Folders (on external USB with over 16TB free space)

  Drafts        
  Junk               (empty)
  Trash
  Outbox           (empty)
  All Mail
     > Companies

     > ZEBRA-2
     Spam	  

abcxxx@gmail.com (on PC with limited free space)

I created filters for "Local Folders" and another set of filters for "abcxxx@gmail.com". These filters indeed send emails to the proper location. However, "All Mail" recovers the emails that are transfered and thus is unchanged (after some delay for the recovery process).

How can I setup Thunderbird such that the emails that are successfully filtered to the different accounts will be deleted from their "All Mail" folders?

I've tried the following approaches (very old thread though): https://superuser.com/questions/702484/can-thunderbird-wrap-long-lines-of-received-html-mails

i.e. creating a 'chrome' folder under my profile, and a userContent.css file under that, trying several of the suggestions for content of that file. None seem to make any difference.

The example message pics here are sent from gmail.
