Using Thunderbird for emails etc and have a contact list. Contracted to Virgin Media for phone, broadband, TV etc. Associated with account is a mobile phone which my wife uses. All contacts in Thunderbird address book are automatically updating the Contacts list of the phone. As a Public Governor with the ambulance service I have approx 75 people in the address book but which have been auto transferred to the phone Contacts list and we would like to un-link this. I've gone through all the other Help facilities but this is not covered. HELP!! Please.

Thunderbird doesn't automatically synchronise its Address Book. You have to install add-ons and nominate particular address books to make them synchronize.

I can't think how you are getting this if you are genuinely using Thunderbird "out of the box". You must have added something.

I manage this myself by running multiple address books. One is specifically set aside for sharing with the phone, and it is selected to be synchronized in both Thunderbird and in my android phone.

Note also in the phone that with a google account, you can select which aspects of it are synchronized to the phone. So my "main" gmail account is synchronized for email, but the phone-specific account is synchronized just for Google Contacts.

Nothing has been knowingly synched. No gmail has been set up on the mobile used by my wife - but thanks for responding. It looks like it will have to be a "factory" reset & start again.

Further to my earlier response - I have also checked the "Add-ons" function and the only one there is for GB English

@OP,

From Matt's post on your version of Windows/Thunderbird step 2 would be Help, with step 3 being selecting Troubleshooting Info.

Actually clicking the word help opens the web site... you have to click the greater than sign (>). When it first appeared the appmenu was rubbish. Years of using it do not make it either intuitive or useful. Perhaps I would see it in some other light if I used a smart phone more. But clicking on a greater than sign to display a menu that is different to the one you get clicking the word is not intuitive to me, or most people that come to this forum apparently.
