when highlighting a textual url, right click then choose "open link", firefox opens in same tab, it used to open in new tab, i want to change it back
i am not talking about normal links, i am talking about texts that firefox recognizes as links, like the ones in forums, it used to open in new tab, but i changed one thing in about:config long time ago, and i forgot it, now i want to change it back

Opening in the same tab sounds normal to me. There are other options to open the link in a new tab, new window, etc. I'm attaching an example screen shot of what I see.
Is there a preference for this? I can't think of one.
Perhaps you were using an extension that could override the standard behavior?

the menu that appears in your screen looks fantastic! it's more than what i need but now i want it! ! what extension/script are you using?
Hi roma445, I don't think it's an add-on, that's what I always get if I select and right-click something like the following:
www.mozilla.org
If there are pages where it doesn't work for you, do you want to provide a link to an example or two? Maybe there is something "special" about those URLs.
Oh, if you are getting a website-specific context menu instead of Firefox's standard context menu, there is a setting in Firefox you can change that should allow you to always have access Firefox's normal right-click context menu.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste contex and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the dom.event.contextmenu.enabled preference to switch it from true to false
Notes:
(1) With this change, when you want to access a site's custom context menu, you can "peel off" Firefox's menu from in front of it by pressing and releasing the Alt key.
(2) If the site displays a prompt, you may need to interact with the prompt first before Firefox's menu displays (e.g., http://www.jeffersonscher.com/)
(3) Obviously sites are aware of this and may have found ways to hack around it. If there are particular problem pages, do you want to provide a link?
There's also this add-on I haven't tried: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/righttoclick/
first, i want to thank you for your effort and time you put into my question.
second, i want i to apologize for my stupidity, i found the culprit, it was menu editor extension, and i hid items in the menu then forgot about them
last, i am big fan of your google hit filter, that's where i recognize your profile foto from
thank you
Aha, well, I probably would have suggested trying Safe Mode sooner or later.
And I'm glad you like the script!
