The great Opera 12 Migration has begun 8(

We are sad, mad & need all the help we can get...

I & many others view google as spyware. I'm not a apple fan neither - former mac user

We need a Opera Migration Guide.

A lot of the web tools I need are already in place like Web Developer Toolbar & FF Developer Tools!

Need to figure a simple way to export Contacts & Mail from Opera's M2 Mail to SeaMonkey, Simple Mail or better lightweight e-Mail client.

I could do many cool things in Opera that have not figured out yet in FF. "Content Blocker" would still work even if JavaScript was OFF - Great for Web Dev ;)

In hotmail I could view the Source Code of Spam Message w/out even opening the junk. I use this technique to see what I needed to block from the headers & body.

I still like IRC - must have for the Leo Laporte - Tech Guy Radio Show!

Still Need: Window Size in Title Bar, Page Zoom Controls, Small Screen (Very Basic Mobile View), Check Box Controls on Toolbar, Author/User Modes, Easy Proxy On/Off - I use a Check Box Control on Toolbar! & More I've missed...

I've only used Opera for comparison testing, so I'm not familiar with most of those features. Still, I'll pitch in where I can.

(1) Email & Contacts

Per a May 2013 blog post, Opera is planning to release a stand-alone mail client. I don't know whether that will provide a nice level of continuity -- or make migration easier/harder.

According to the following article, it is easy to export Opera mail to the mbox format which is used by Mozilla Thunderbird: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_from_Opera. That format may be importable into other clients as well.

(2) Content Blocker

Might need an add-on for this.

(3) View Source of Linked Page (e.g., junk in Hotmail)

Sounds like Opera could retrieve the raw HTML of a linked page without rendering it in a tab. Interesting feature. I've never noticed anything like that in Firefox, so if no one can point out such an option, an add-on might be needed.

(4) IRC

Not sure what is required for IRC in Firefox. ?

(5) Window Size in Title Bar

This is on the Resize menu of Chris Pederick's Web Developer toolbar (seems you have this).

(6) Page Zoom Controls

You can find basic + and - buttons in the Customize dialog. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars. I don't think Firefox includes a freely editable box to set the precise percentage.

(7) Small Screen (Very Basic Mobile View)

The "Responsive Design" view (Ctrl+Shift+m to toggle) may fit your needs. You can add new dimensions to match the target devices.

(8) Check Box Controls on Toolbar
(9) Author/User Modes
(10) Easy Proxy On/Off

Not sure what these do.

The export & convert of Opera Contacts don't lineup correctly. At least the information is there...

I may have to give up and try the separate Opera Mail client?

The all-one-suite means less apps on the menu bar...

The 2 things that drew me to Opera was speed & almost total control of the browser & how it presented the web to me.

Just a update - all is working OK.

Thanks again for the advice.

The "Memory Fox" add-on works great! I wished there was one for Thunderbird ;)

For IRC you can use the Chatzilla addon.
