On opening, Thunderbird starts Firefox and requests donation, I already donated, how do I disable?

I see it as Thunderbird hijacking the resources of my computer to run Firefox and take me to the donation website. I'm fine with the request for money in the Thunderbird screen, I can navigate away from that. Don't open programs other than Thunderbird before I require them.
