Firefox balances privacy with performance by collecting limited data, such as usage trends, crash reports, and system details, to improve stability and functionality. This article provides an overview of what’s included in your system settings where you can control data collection and usage on desktop; guidance is also available for mobile.

Manage settings involving data collection on desktop

To manage technical and interaction data, studies, the daily usage ping, the automatic sending of crash reports and Firefox Suggest:

  1. Open Firefox settings
  2. Click the menu button ☰ in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. In the left-hand menu, click Privacy & Security.
  5. Scroll down to the Firefox Data Collection and Use section.
  6. Uncheck or check the following options based on your preferences:

  7. Your changes are saved automatically. Close the Settings tab when done.

To manage sponsored content data, Recent Activity and Weather:

  1. Open a New Tab
  2. Click the settings button ☰ on the top right corner of the New Tab page
  3. Uncheck or check the following options based on your preferences:
