After the update for 27-04-2013 Firefox x64 no longer shows the address in the url window and pressing the '+' never opens a new tab. If i close down firefox it tells me that all the additional tabs that I could never see are open. How do I fix this or do i simply wait for the next update to fix the browser. I had to install chrome to write this!

I can not add troubleshooting information because I can open a new tab!

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Well since Firefox will not open a new tab I can not goto Tools->troubleshooting. If I do nothing shows up as per the first post.

I guess I'm with Chrome now because it appears I need to remove firefox and reinstall to get it to do anything. Oh well was good while it lasted. Thanks

Hit the ALT button and the menu should appear, then go to tools > troubleshooting, this doesnt require the opening of a new tab.

A good place to discuss issues with Firefox nightly builds like 23.0a1 is at the MozillaZine Firefox Builds forum.
There is also a daily thread to discuss issues with the latest Nightly build at the MozillaZine Builds forum.
You need to register at the MozillaZine forum site in order to post at that forum.

You do realize that the Firefox 23.0a1 development Nightlies are not even close to being release builds right? As they get checkins pretty much every day and therefore a update each same days. They are more for testers and developers and not those who want a stable build.

There is no need to downgrade to Chrome as you can use the Firefox release or the 21.0 Beta builds if you want stability. The 32-bit builds work fine on 64-bit Windows.

If you want to continue being a tester then monitor the Nightly builds threads in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23

I also noticed that we have 'lost' the star on the location bar to bookmark a link and that you now have a Bookmarks Menu button with two clickable areas: the star to bookmark and the drop down marker to open the bookmarks list.
So if you move that button to another position or toolbar then it is more effort to bookmark a link and notice that you are visiting an already bookmarked URL. This button also now takes more horizontal space.
