My harddrive started to fail so we purchased a new harddrive. I had mozilla thunderbird on my old hardrive, and installed it on my new harddrive. Is there any way to transfer my contacts and my reveived and sent emails from my old harddrive to my new one?

If there is nothing in the current profile that is of value. Do the following

  1. Ensure Thunderbird is closed
  2. in the start menu type %appdata% and press enter.
  3. Replace the Thunderbird folder and ALL of it's sub folders with those from your backup.
  4. Start Thunderbird and you will have your backup as a replacement profile.

If you want to try and merge the two.

  1. download the import export tools add-on from here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/
  2. Install it using the instructions below
  3. select a folder in "local Folders"
  4. From the Tools menu select the import export tools
  5. Select import an mbox file
  6. In the dialog that opens select the last option and click ok
  7. in the file picker, select the mail directory you included in your last post.
  8. Be patient and select to continue if you get unresponsive script warnings.
