In firefox, when I have to download many files at a time, I have to click one download link, wait for the modal dialog to appear, finish it and then click the next downloda link. This is very inconvenient cause I have to wait the modal dialog. In Microsoft Edge, things are different, when I click a download link, it just shows a non-modal dialog in the bottom, which I do not need to handle immediately. In this way, I can first click all the download links and then deal with all the download dialogs.(The following figure shows the behavior of microsoft edge when downloading) I prefer the behavior of Microsoft Edge, is there any way to achieve it in firefox?

Have you tried downloading a second file?

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a download manager.

This download manager works separately from the browser. The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.

http://www.freedownloadmanager.org It is a powerful modern download accelerator and organizer for Windows and Mac.

Dear FredMcD,

Thanks for your help. I have tried Free Download Manager according to your advice. FDM solves the problem partially but it still has some drawbacks:

  1. I do not want the download of the browser to be controlled by another software.
  2. The FDM window shows every time I click a single download link, although I can neglect it.
  3. if I cancel the download in FDM, a downloda modal dialog will appear in firefox.

I prefer to solve the problem solely by firefox and some extensions, if you have better solution, please let me know!
