add comments to prefs.js in firefox

Can you add comments to your prefs.js file? I know you can't edit it while firefox is running, but I would think after you close firefox you can edit your prefs.js file. I have done that and after I restart firefox my comments disappear. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Hello COKEDUDE,

it is better to create a user.js file than to edit the Prefs.js file .

If you have create a valid user.js file then when firefox starts it will overwrite any settings in prefs.js with the corresponding settings from user.js so you can do your comments in the user.js file.
