A short time after I log in to Hotmail I get the following message - "Please refresh your browser window. When you access your Windows Live Hotmail account from more than one computer, we ask you to sign in again to help keep your account private and secure."

The point is - I only log in from one computer. I have asked Windows Live Support, and the first thing they want is for me to 'optimise my browser'.

I don't get this response on any other site, and I suspect it's down to Microsoft. This question does not seem to crop up in your collection of questions.

Your help would be appreciated.

Clear the live.com and passport.net cookies and maybe msn.com cookies as well.

  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Thank you. I did what you suggested yesterday, but today after going to Hotmail only about eight minutes ago, I have had the warning twice. It's a nuisance because each time it happens it seems to imply that someone else is hacking in.

Do you think it could be a security threat? If not, I might as well live with it.

Best wishes shoshin36

Do you have security software or cleanup software like CCleaner that can deal with Firefox cookies?

Yes, I have CCleaner. I also have Norton 360, but I think it decides what to delete. Are you suggesting that the cookies you referred to in your earlier post get created each time Firefox is loaded?
