I don't know where or how this problem occurred but when I type word in FireFox like the form I am using right now I am having a problem. For ẽample: "ỏ hơ thí" these words are "or how this" it seems to get the correct spelling I have to type "S", "W" and "R" to get the correct words and also review what I have typed bểo I can send a message. I have tried this in IE and Chrome and everything works just fine. I have checked my settings and just can't find what í going on. I rêcntly added and have removed "iMacros" so maybe that í where the problem comes into play. Ì you notice any misspelled words I am sorry but I am dealing with this issue. Also I have to point out that ì seems that the language of "French" is coming into play. Please HELP! I want to type without all of these problems.

Do you have a dictionary installed and selected?

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.

  • Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
  • Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.

You can enable or disable spell checking globally:

  • Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"

Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application and you may have changed the keyboard layout by accident via a keyboard shortcut.

See:

It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident.

  • Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar.
  • You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar.
  • Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar.
  • You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application.
  • The default keys to rotate the layout is a combination (Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift) that can easily be used in Firefox to activate a menu item.
  • To avoid an unintentional switch, assign a specific key sequence (Alt/Ctrl+Shift+number) to select keyboard layouts and remove the key combination to rotate layouts (Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift)
  • Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languages > Change keyboards > Advanced key settings > Change key sequence

Hello, I have just checked all of the above information and can't seem to get the language bar to come up for FireFox. As I have stated this problem only happens with FireFox and none of the other browsers. Also I would like to know if this might be the problem... while looking at View>Character Encoding> Unicode (UTF-8) is selected. Also when I use words like: is, or, of I have to hit s,r,f twice to get it to show. Maybe thí clue will help you help me.
