Dear filter specialists,

On a Windows 10 computer with TB Portable 128.6 and .7, folders can no longer be selected in the filters as ‘Run filter on’ or ‘perform these Actions’: the menu is greyed out. The phenomenon occurs with all accounts: POP and local. Various email providers, ESET virus scanner, Windows firewall, FritzBox cable router. The local account contains almost 30 GB of emails. The existing filters work as long as they do not affect the accounts or folders: for example, tagging e-mails works. Existing filters with folder-actions cannot be re-configured and no folder actions are possible when creating a new filter.

I have performed an update check and restarted Windows, changed the compression limit from 500 to 5 MB and changed a few minor settings so that the config is rewritten.

What could this be? How do I solve the problem? A workaround if necessary.

Thank you very much for your help.

Thunderbird Problem: For many years I have been using the Thunderbird mail client currently in ver. 128.7.0esr (32 bit) on S.O. Windows 10 Home Update 22H2 (OS Build 19045.5487), 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor. I have a couple of mail accounts, one of mine and one of my wife. My problem is that for a few days now (about 5 or 6 days) on the InBox folder of my account, only mine, I have not been able to compact the folder. When I try to compact it, the response message is always the following: <The Inbox folder on "my_account_name@gmail.com" cannot be compacted because it is not possible to write to it. Verify that you have enough disk space and have write privileges, then try again> On my disk the available space is 121 Gb on C: where the program with the InBox folders resides and 266 Gb where the data stored in custom folders resides. The write privileges are always the same, never changed, of Administrator. I have already tried the path of "repairing the folder" and re-indexing the folder, but without success. Can someone suggest a remedy, please? Thanks Riccardo ITALIANO Da molti anni uso il client di posta Thunderbird attualmente in ver. 128.7.0esr (32 bit) su S.O. Windows 10 Home Agg. 22H2 (Build sistema operativo 19045.5487), Sistema operativo a 64 bit, processore basato su x64. Grazie Riccardo

I bought a new computer and had to download Thunderbird again. I tried the most recent one, didn't like it, so randomly picked a previous release from 2023 (don't remember when I installed the previous one) and hoped for the best. In the past, I would keep some emails in my inbox and tend to them as needed and then keep or delete when I had done what was required. I would also need to go to my ISP email's page, to get spam email, because Thunderbird didn't provide me with those. When there, I would delete what was in the inbox, so I could easily keep letters there to a minimum. Now, however, when I delete something in my ISP's inbox, it deletes in my Thunderbird portal too. I can't find settings in my ISP's page to stop it from downloading automatically (so it won't duplicate what I've already received via Thunderbird), and I can't find any settings in Thunderbird, to ask it to keep what I have in my inbox, instead of deleting everything I delete with my ISP. Do I need to go further back and find an earlier release in order to be able to use Thunderbird as I used to do? Or can I tweak the one I have?

When I create a calendar event, it will not show up in the calendar view (Month), even after trying several times. What I found is, it will only show up on the calendar if I uncheck the Notify Attendees box at the bottom, which is by default always checked. After I uncheck the Notify attendees box on an event, that event, and each successive event will then show up on the calendar, regardless if I have the Notify attendees box checked or unchecked. I looked to see if I can uncheck this box in Settings, but do not see where this can be done.

Is there a way to have the Notify attendees box unchecked by default when I create a new calendar event?

Mozilla inbuilt login authentication prompts Issue - buggy login user experience

We are currently considering using Firefox ESR as our default browser but experiencing a few issues and one of them is with our configured SailPoint IdentityIQ Single Sign-On Experience, which uses Basic Authentication.

Issue Description First, the login button needs to be clicked multiple times before access to the site is granted. Once signed in, the Firefox inbuilt authentication dialogue appears, prompting the user to log in again (see the attached screenshot). The landing page is only presented after clicking the login button several times. This creates a poor user experience, sometimes causing pages to load improperly. Interestingly, the same process works seamlessly in Edge Chromium.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken I have already attempted the following: 1. Temporarily disabled all custom and security settings in mozilla.cfg and config.json. 2. Temporarily disabled Firefox Tracking Protection. 3. Allowed third-party cookies for the specific URL. 4. Upgraded Firefox Version to 128.7.0 5. Since our Firefox browser is significantly hardened, I have also enabled and reconfigured the following settings in mozilla.cfg to ensure Basic Authentication is allowed, functions properly, and suppresses Firefox’s authentication prompt, but without success:

network.http.phishy-userpass-length = 255 network.http.use-basic-auth network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-non-fqdn network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris security.enterprise_roots.enabled security.enterprise_roots.enabled

Observations from SailPoint Team Our colleagues from SailPoint have tested the setup in their environment, and according to them, it works as expected. However, their browser is not hardened, and they have leveraged the SailPoint UI for authentication instead of the built-in Firefox authentication prompt.

Further Investigation • Is there a specific configuration required in the user profile settings? • Network trace analysis shows 404 errors on GET requests and the following error codes on POST requests: • 302 Redirect: Mozilla Documentation • 408 Request Timeout: Mozilla Documentation

Next Steps Is there a specific security setting that needs to be enabled or disabled? Are there any particular Firefox enterprise policies we should modify? I have also attached screenshots for reference. Let me know if you need specific logs or network traces for further troubleshooting.

Have been trying to sync my google caledar with Thunderbird on my win 11 PC. Have two calendar registrated on Thunderbird. On the standar "calendar" the other is under my Gmail acount. If I recive an invitation from outside I can't chose to which calendar I want to ad the invitation to. But if I send from my own E-mail (not Gmail) via Outlook on the PC. Thunderbird gives me the option to chose to which calendar to ad the invitation to. I have open the Google calendar and copied the "shared link" from Google and tried to ad that when creating a new calendar in Thunderbird. But when pasting the link into URL place I'm asked for "PSW". But when typing my Gmail PSW it just anwers " not working..." Obviusly I'm missing something. So please, can anyone explain all nesessary steps needed in order to make a possible sync between google calendar and Thunderbird.

Hello Mozilla Team,

I would like to request your assistance with an issue regarding complete themes on thunderbird.

The issue here is that I simply cannot install any of them, no matter which one. I've checked multiple and they all display "This add-on is not compatible with your version of Thunderbird. " I am running Thunderbird 128.7.0esr.

I am able to download the normal themes and other add-ons just fine, but I was really looking forward to complete themes.

My PC specs:

Ryzen 5 3600 GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB 16GB RAM SSD 500GB

Windows version 22H2 19045.4170

I hope you are able to assist me on fixing this issue.

Thanks.

It's a simple question, why can't you temporarily suspend the checking of an email account in Thunderbird? Searching on line there are plenty of people asking this question and the most common reply is "you can't". No reason, just the "you can't".

How hard can it be? It would basically require a simple check box on the "Account Settings -> Server Settings" page that asks "Temporarily suspend account?" and then some simple if()/else if()/else logic to check/not check. Probably should add an int/bool somewhere in one of the myriad config files to keep track and that's it.

According to another post regarding this topic, there are bugs on this that are now 14/15 years old but when I clicked on the links to check them out, the pages timed out. 14/15 years and no change/fix - seriously. I don't see how this, to someone familiar with the code base, would be more than a one day task, that includes doco, coding & testing. The fix offered in the above post was to copy all the stuff to a local folder - so what happens in a few weeks time when you want to check that account again - copy it all back? And then copy it back again a few weeks later, back a forth like a yo-yo. Not a well though out idea! If there is a valid reason, I'd like to hear it from someone who actually works for Mozilla/Thunderbird and knows coding rather than someone who just posts to this forum a lot and guesses.

Thunderbird is constantly popping up pages telling me all about freedom and donating. With such a slow turn around time on such a simple request, I'm probably going to skip donating.

Confused. I've never used it, but Is this list meant to convey that I've used it five times, in relation somehow to Reddit and Youtube?

Are those address automatically created upon addon installation? Are they still available for use, or Is that just their way of informing me that if I want to use Relay going forward I'll have to pay?
