Am unable to log in from Thunderbird at Yahoo Pop3 mail on a regular basis, which I have been able to do for years, just recently it will do so only sporadically. This morning it logged in and I got my mail, this evening I can see there is new mail in Yahoo mail but I’ve been getting an error message for hours in Thunderbird at log in: “Sending of password for user XXXXXX@yahoo.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded:” No error code(s), just that message. This has been going on for about a week now. I am able to send mail from that same account with no problems but only after having to re-enter my password and saving it in password manager. I have another Pop3 account at Yahoo Mail, identical settings in Thunderbird, and no problems. Security settings in Yahoo have Two-step verification disabled and Allow apps that use less secure sign-in enabled; the latter I’ve tried with it on or off – no difference. Also I’ve over-installed Thunderbird – no difference. There are two Yahoo Mail AT&T accounts, which work just fine. Am at a total loss, seems like on just that account Yahoo Mail lets me in only at a very sporadic basis. Help?

I finally got my Yahoo mail in Thunderbird.

I created a new login at Yahoo though that may not be necessary.

I deleted my Yahoo Mail account in Thunderbird and closed Thunderbird.

I reopened Thunderbird after having deleted the Yahoo mail account. When I reopened, I got a message asking about Yahoo and I was then able to add my new Yahoo mail account with the new PW.

It was amazingly easy, no thanks to Yahoo and little thanks to Thunderbird though the T-bird users here were very helpful!

Setting up new accounts in Thunderbird getting mail from Yahoo always was a no brainer as long as the instructions in Yahoo Mail/Help for setting up Thunderbird to accommodate Yahoo were followed, especially regarding port settings.

It's the older Yahoo mail accounts, specifically Pop3 accounts and especially those like mine which are free because I set them up through Yahoo/Singapore that are getting the "treatment" from Yahoo.

Changed passwords on both Yahoo and on both Yahoo-ATT accounts as well; everything is working fine - so far.

Yahoo has apparently stopped working POP mail, using IMAP instead

It happened to me this weekend - couldn't send or receive, but it was accessible via a browser. NO NOTICE from AT&T or Yahoo, unless it went unnoticed in all the crappy SPAM I get using their names.

Change your server name to

imap.mail.att.net port 993 should come up

I had to set up a new user with these incoming settings (outgoing is the same), and not I have multiple email accounts on Thunderbird, and can't get rid of the old one, so try not to go that way.
