This new version of Thunderbird (115.12.2) is not the best. The Composition toolbar doesn't exist when typing a new message and I no longer have a menu bar when typing a new message.

Another issue is on replying why do these sideways "V's" show at the beginning of each line of the senders email when replying. Sometimes it will be just a black line all the way down. When I saw those I felt like I had woken up in 1995.

I am using Windows 11 Pro.

Thank you

if there is no menu bar, click the alt key and it should display. Then click view>toolbars and tick menu bar to keep it visible for composition toolbar, click 'new messages' and then click view toolbars>composition toolbar . Those charactiers reflect that this is the prior message to which you are replying.

Hi David. Thanks for your reply. Sorry I'm late replying as I have been under the weather for a couple of days. So, pressed ALT and nothing happened. Then I tried going to view toolbars and there was still no composition toolbar. Needless to say when I type an email there is no SEND button so have to use CTRL+ENTER. I even uninstalled it and shut down then downloaded and reinstalled and it's still doing the same thing. Thanks again.

The alt key should have made the menu bar appear when in composition window, so I am at a loss on fixing that. The view option from menu bar in compose window shows the option to use composition toolbar. Maybe someone else will offer suggestions. If Alt key doesn't work, try the F10 key in composition window, as I have heard that may work.

The F10 worked great. I will have to remember that F10 thing. Thanks so much.
