Hello, I installed Thunderbird on a Windows 11 computer and I receive the message to "Set up and Existing email address" When I put in user name, password and email I receive an error message saying the server cannot be found. I also tried deleting and reinstalling the Thunderbird program, but have the same result.

So, how do you put in the needed info to move beyond the error message?

Thanks,

R

it isn't saying the server can't be found. that is one of three possibilities. My suggestion is to remove the account completely, start over and do not include password during setup. that usually helps verify that the server is being properly configured. and then wait for the prompt for email password.

For a stny.rr.com account, use the manual config. with these settings:

incoming mail.twc.com, 993, SSL/TLS, normal password, email address

outgoing mail.twc.com, 587, STARTTLS, normal password, email address
