private mode gone?
Sigh. I can not get into private mode anymore. It _used_ to work, but: poof.
In Settings, Privacy I have "firefox will remember history". I have never set, nor can I find, "always open firefox in safe mode". In the "file" menu there is _only_ the "open new private window", so it seems I am set for always browsing privately. How? Where? Why?!
I am frustrated beyond getting angry. Firefox is very, very quickly turning into a browser that can not be trusted, will not do what it used to do and is used for anything BUT browsing the internet :(

back on track. There is a bug in firefox settings. I go to options, select privacy, remember history is ON. I switch it to off, restart the browser, go to settings, privacy, swith it to "remember", restart browser and presto. My new private window option is back...

Have you tried { Ctrl + Shft + P } to open a Private Browsing window?

Installed Plug-ins
Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0
Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.
Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac
Then reinstall the latest version.
Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.
Flash Player Version: 21.0.0.242 Flash Player (Linux) Version 11.2.202.621
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download.
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download.

thanks for noting,
I have been trying for 3 years to get rid of this v18 install. It can not be removed. Firefox refuses to remove it. It is not in the appdata/; it is not in the plugins/; it is nowhere. Yet it is still available in the bl* plugins. Thats also one of the reasons I am so very fed up with firefox. I am not in control of my own browser.

The players are plugins that Firefox finds on your system. It has nothing to do with installing them. Did you try the uninstaller I posted above?

Unlike Extensions and complete Themes which are installed in Firefox, the Plugins are installed on system whether on Windows, Mac OSX or Linux and not in Firefox. This is why you only have activate/deactivate options for Plugins.
While Firefox is closed uninstall Flash players on system and then install the new Flash Player (plugin version, not activex). http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
You can type about:plugins in the Location (address) bar to see where the Plugins are located on your system.
