Firefox Version: 39.0 (20150630154324) on Win 7 SP1 64

Intel i5-4670 with onboard graphics card; System was set up less than 2 weeks ago.

As shown in the screenshots text does not render as it should on a lot of websites (Actually it looks just the same in this very textbox I'm writing in right now...). This is not great to read, and sometimes even misleading (as seen on the pyfont.png, those table entries 'w-', 'wb-' etc. only look like there is a '-' when there is actually a '+' (which I can only see by zooming in or out (strg+scroll)).

Enabling or disabling hardware acceleration does not help. Updating the graphics card driver does not help either. 'Allow pages to choose their own font' is enabled, not helping.

screenshots added... initial post seems to have ignored them.

Type about:preferences#content<enter> in the address bar. Across from fonts and colors, press the Advanced button. On the bottom, turn on Allow Web Sites To Choose Their Own.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

As stated in the opening post websites are already allowed to choose their own fonts.

Sadly opening Firefox in Safe-mode did not help either.

Unrelated to your post: Setting windows ClearType Option helped a bit, but it's still pretty messy.

Hello,

To find the correct solution to your problem, we need some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:

  1. Use ONE of these methods to open the Firefox Troubleshooting Information page:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click on help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information.
    • Type about:support into the Firefox address bar and press the enter key.
  2. At the top of the Troubleshooting Information page that comes up, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
  3. Now, go back to your forum post, right-click in the reply box and select Paste from the context menu (or else click inside the reply box and press the Ctrl+V keys) to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

If you need further information about the Troubleshooting information page, please read the article Use the Troubleshooting Information page to help fix Firefox issues.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Is ClearType enabled in Windows?

@cor-el, ClearType is enabled (as stated earlier) and helps a bit, but there are still Rendering Problems left, e.g. an 'e' missing the horizontal line. I installed Anti-Alising Tuner just now, it either does not help, or my settings are messed up (tried some out, none got results...).

@guigs2, here's the troubleshoot:

Thanks everyone for using their time on my problem :)

PS: The picture shows how the formerly posted site looks after enabling ClearType. You can now see the '+', but there are still problems, most obvious with 'a' and 'e'.

Hi there,

as the problem still exists to this day, does anyone have any more suggestions on what to do about it?

Greetings.

gfx.downloadable_fonts.woff2.enabled set to true?

Corel might FSBE also be running into Bug 119490 ?

What font is used to display the text?

You can right-click the text and select "Inspect Element" to open the Inspector (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) with this element selected. You can check the font used for selected text in the Font tab in the right pane of the Inspector. Inspector
