I can't load Wikipedia from my desktop or my laptop, I keep getting an error message saying the connection has timed out....the server is taking to long to respond.

Up until 2 weeks ago it was fine. I did all of the things suggested on the help forums such as clearing cookies, history, checking my McAfee Total protection for internet access etc. I've been using Wikipedia for years without a problem. I read that Wikipedia might have banned my IP address which I don't understand why as all I've ever done is read articles for my own personal information, that's all I ever do there. I did a registry clean before this happened but restored the files a few days later, I don't remember what registry cleaner I used as I uninstalled it. I've tried loading on different browsers but it still won't load. I am using windows 7 with Mozilla Firefox, and Google chrome on yahoo 7 and ninemsn.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.

Try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 256 to 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
